Flex Elite Credit Card: Up to 5% Cash Back, No Annual Fee

A no-annual-fee card that pays 3% back on everyday spending would already beat almost every flat-rate card in your wallet. The new Flex Elite Credit Card starts there and climbs to 5%. The headline is real, but the path to 4% and 5% runs through something most people don’t have, and the fine print is more restrictive than the marketing suggests.

Card details checked October 13, 2026 against Flex’s product page and the Flex Elite Rewards Agreement dated September 23, 2026. Terms can change, so confirm on Flex’s site before you apply. See our Advertiser Disclosure for how we work with partners.

How the Flex Elite Cash Back Tiers Work

Flex calls this a relationship-based rewards program. Your earn rate isn’t tied to what you buy. It’s tied to how much money you keep with Flex.

Tier Qualifying balances at Flex Earn rate
Tier 1 Under $250,000 3% (3 Flex Points per dollar)
Tier 2 $250,000 to $999,999.99 4%
Tier 3 $1,000,000 and up 5%

Three details in the rewards terms change how this works in practice:

  • Your tier lags by one billing cycle. Flex measures your average daily balance during one cycle, and that sets your earn rate for the next one.
  • The higher rate is capped at your credit limit. Spending above your limit in a billing cycle, which can happen if you pay down the balance mid-cycle and keep spending, earns 3% until the next cycle starts.
  • Rewards unlock when you pay your statement in full. Carry a balance and you’re working against yourself.

What Counts Toward the 4% and 5% Flex Elite Tiers

This is the part most coverage skips. The rewards agreement defines qualifying balances narrowly. Right now, only three kinds of accounts count:

  1. Business deposit accounts held at a Flex partner bank
  2. Flex Treasury accounts
  3. Flex stablecoin wallets

Those accounts also have to be linked to you. Flex links a business’s accounts automatically if you own 25% or more of that business, or if you’re the CEO when no one owns 25%. Up to three owners can link the same business, and each of them gets credit for the full balance. If you own several businesses that bank with Flex, their balances combine.

Flex lists personal banking as coming soon, but today it isn’t one of the eligible categories. In plain terms: the 4% and 5% tiers are built for business owners who run serious cash through Flex. If you’re not one of them, you’re a 3% cardholder, and that’s still a very good place to be.

Flex Elite vs. the Best Flat-Rate Cash Back Cards

Here’s how Flex Elite compares with two of the most popular no-annual-fee flat-rate cards. The annual value column assumes $3,000 a month in eligible spending, or $36,000 a year.

Card Earn rate on everyday spend Annual fee Value on $36,000 a year
Flex Elite (Tier 1) 3% $0 $1,080
Flex Elite (Tier 3) 5% $0 $1,800
Wells Fargo Active Cash 2% $0 $720
Citi Double Cash 2% (1% when you buy, 1% when you pay) $0 $720

Even at the base tier, Flex Elite earns an extra $360 a year over a 2% card at that spending level. That’s a meaningful gap for a card with no fee. The trade-off is everything else: established 2% cards come from big banks with long track records, while Flex is a fintech launching a brand-new rewards program it can change at any time.

The Fine Print: What Doesn’t Earn Flex Points

Flex’s marketing page describes cash back on everything with no exclusions. The rewards agreement tells a different story. These transactions don’t earn points:

  • Cash, ATM withdrawals, and cash advances
  • Balance transfers and checks that access the account
  • Interest and fees charged to the account
  • Person-to-person payments
  • Gambling, lottery tickets, and sports betting
  • Wires, currency orders, money orders, prepaid cards, and other cash equivalents
  • Disputed transactions and chargebacks
  • Business transactions

That last one matters. Flex pitches the card to founders, but it’s a personal card for personal spending. Your business deposits can raise your earn rate. Your business expenses can’t earn on this card.

The terms also prohibit manufactured spending and opening accounts repeatedly to farm points, and they allow Flex to claw back points awarded on ineligible purchases, even if that pushes your balance negative. Flex Points also aren’t your property: if your account closes, whether you close it or Flex does, you can lose any unredeemed points.

How to Redeem Flex Points

Flex Points are worth 1 cent each when you take them as cash or a statement credit. That makes the 3% to 5% figures honest cash back numbers, not inflated travel valuations.

  • Statement credit: minimum 2,500 Flex Points ($25), usually posts within 48 hours
  • Cash to a linked bank account: minimum 2,500 Flex Points ($25), usually within 48 hours but can take up to six weeks
  • Flex Travel: bookings through Flex’s concierge service, including perks at luxury hotels; the value per point here may differ

Points don’t expire and there’s no earning cap, but every redemption is final.

Flex Elite Card Benefits

For a no-fee card, the benefit list is strong on paper. Flex lists trip cancellation and interruption coverage, trip delay reimbursement, lost luggage reimbursement, an auto rental collision damage waiver, purchase security, extended warranty, return protection, emergency card replacement, and zero liability protection. You also get access to Flex Concierge by text.

Coverage limits, exclusions, and whether the rental coverage is primary weren’t spelled out on the pages we reviewed. If any of these benefits would drive your decision, read the guide to benefits once you’re approved. The same goes for foreign transaction fees, which Flex’s product page doesn’t mention.

7 Tips Before You Request a Flex Elite Invite

  1. Assume you’ll earn 3%. Unless you already hold $250,000 or more in a business you own through Flex, plan around the base rate.
  2. Ask for a high credit limit. The 4% and 5% rates only apply up to your limit each cycle, so a small limit caps your upside.
  3. Pay in full every month. Rewards only unlock when your statement is paid in full, and a late payment can freeze or forfeit your points.
  4. Keep business spending off this card. Business transactions are excluded and could put your rewards at risk.
  5. Redeem regularly. Points disappear if the account closes, and Flex can change the program, so don’t stockpile.
  6. Keep a backup card. Pair Flex Elite with a travel card that transfers to airline and hotel partners, so you can still book award flights.
  7. Prequalify first. Flex says checking prequalification won’t affect your credit score. If you’ve had trouble getting approved before, our guide on boosting your credit card approval odds is worth a read.

Is the Flex Elite Credit Card Worth It?

If you own a business that banks with Flex and keeps six or seven figures on deposit, this is one of the most rewarding personal cards available, with no annual fee standing in the way.

For everyone else, 3% back on eligible spending with no fee is still excellent, and it beats a 2% card by a full percentage point. The question is trust. You’re betting on a young rewards program with broad rights to change terms, exclusions that contradict the marketing, and no welcome bonus to lock in value up front.

If you collect points for travel, Flex Elite works best as your everyday cash back card alongside a transferable points card. Our breakdown of the Chase Sapphire Preferred changes for 2026 shows what you’d be trading off. You can also boost your cash back further by stacking shopping portals like Rakuten on top of your card rewards.

Takeaway

The Flex Elite Credit Card earns 3% back on eligible personal spending for every cardholder, rising to 4% or 5% only with $250,000 or $1,000,000 in qualifying business balances at Flex. There’s no annual fee and points are worth 1 cent each in cash. Request an invite if a 3% everyday card appeals to you, but read the rewards terms, keep business spending off the card, and redeem your points often.
